From Routine to Revelation
For those moms who are feeling anxious about job, family, and hope

Why I feel this way
With the latest layoff announcements in Oct 2025, the U.S. Corporations have layoff more than 140,000 workers (private and federal). So, this article is devoted to those who involuntary was let go from their job.
As you have guessed, I was layoff from my previous job at a big multinational defense company Aug last year, and it took me over 6 months to land my next job at much smaller contract manufacturer doing the same job I was doing at lower pay and benefits. Then, I was layoff again a month ago, the company citing order dropped, cycling economy. I went through the ordeals two years in a roll. Some reckonings I want to share with my audience.
While I was going through my tribulations, I had a lot of thought that went through my mind, so I will share what I come up with.
Whatever you feel or compel to do, do not panic!! This is when financial discipline and pre-planning kicks in. I was fortunate that I have some savings to carry me over 6 months of no income. Having that savings really give me the courage to face the layoff. If you don’t have much saved, actively seeks out public assistance like SNAP, State Food program (Cal Fresh, etc), church food banks, anything that will tied you over just a longer to your next job.
Ironically, some of my best personal growth and self-development come during the gap in between works. So here I want to emphases the importance of establish your support network early on, be it family members, bible study in your church (if you don’t already have one, join for free), and your local county library (other state-sponsored social support path). It will really come in handle during the self-doubt and self-depreciative period, which you will surely encounter as the job hunting drags on (national average of 5 months), for longer than six months or after your unemployment benefit runs out.
I choose to sign up for half marathon and a guitar lesion. Now you might say, that does that got to do with getting your next job. The success from those tiny steps and purpose of doing something beyond your horizon, plus you actually doing something positive (developing the positive mindset) are what’s going to keep your sanity and understanding of how universe works really are amazing! I also start taking LinkedIn learning on AI classes through the County Library for free. Establish your learning cadence, and layout your plan so you can establish your routine during this difficult emotionally and financially. Whatever your interest maybe, and whatever new skillset you want o acquire, writing it down and set realistic goals really propel you a few strokes ahead than no plan and no motivation at all. Measurable and achievable are the key words, no matter how little steps and insignificant it may seem at the time. Confidence is built on doing the baby steps and a series of small wins compounded into bigger win.
Second observation.
Ever wonder you wake up every morning, goes to work, getting off work, goes shopping, cooking and cleaning, and repeat the routine tomorrow. At the end of month, you discover that you don’t have any money left. The job is not rewarding, and you feel drain every evening. You wait up in the middle of night wondering if you will ever get a break, and what would happen if you stopped working. Most people do the same thing, dream the same dream, and worry about the future in their daily routine but seems powerless to change. Enough cover in the worldly way, now let’s talk about some observations on the spiritual side of universal rule.
If you are one of the hundreds of thousands ordinary working-class family, how do you ever plan that expensive education for your children, that dream vacation, or have something for back on during a layoff or sickness? It may be the time to learn how to call out to the forces that govern the universe and asks what you want. I know you are probably thinking, is this some kind of occult. Bear with me momentarily and hear me out. It’s not hard to comprehend if you think in term of energy spent and earn, the application of energy in our universe.
You see, the forces that governed the universe, or God if you prefer to call them, has a preference to balance itself out to reach an equilibrium. A close analogy is a saving bank account with God or the Universe. At the end of a certain period, the bank checked the book entries and credit or debit your account based on what you put into the account and what you withdrew. If you are owed, the universe bank will credit your account as far as you are concern. So, every chance you get to put credit into your universe account, do it. Be helping a stranger, donate food to the needy, or community services will accumulate overtime so that when you need to ask for a withdraw, that credit will be there and it will never go away.
