Fooling Yourselves

When you are standing on the hard edge of life, spiritual escape and metamorphosis are the natural next steps. To follow your dream, strive for that earthly successes, just leaves a bitterness of extreme loneliness. Is this the right decision? Before you answer, I have a short story to tell.

There was a little girl with special talents in classical music composing and conducting. Growing up in occupied territory of Manchuria China before the war, she has grand ambition and great discipline to achieve greatness. She may come short on instrumental techniques but she is relentless. Then one day, a Japanese man approached her with an offer to promote her to stardom but she would have to appear to be one of them supporting the occupation forces. It’s not a betrayal to her people he said, she is not asked to do anything bad and she could leave any time but she initially refused and insisted on achieving her dream by her diligent hard work and natural talents. Little by little, she came to realize what make the world goes around.

The man promised the best PR company, the famous talk show host, and a hefty marketing budget. Now a day, good opportunity comes from raising awareness and awareness is built upon resources. Magazine centerfold, TV and Radio shows, Concern Hall rendition invites are based on a well-coordinated marketing strategy. Don’t underestimate the power of resources and connections, one has to be seen to be heard. Even Mozart needs his father in the palace employment of Bishop of Salsbury to be notice as the child prodigy. So, he said he can do all that for her, launch her musical career to new heights. She can leave anytime she likes but could she….

Your hesitation and sacrifice would be in vain because they will fad away as all quarrelsome things fade away. You are in position to step up to the pinnacle of your career, don’t fool yourselves thinking you can leave all these behind. You need us. She has failed her people because of her metal weakness; but if given the choice again, she will resist and she wouldn’t fail this time. She is determined to make things right this time, no matter what happens afterward.

We are all confronted by temptations and desire to fulfill our dreams. Each one of us go about our life, choose whatever path that we think it’s going to take us there. There are delay, detour, exhilaration and loneliness. You are your own generator and what keeps you fully charged every morning? You may have found your answer, but if not, at least don’t fool yourselves. Be honest with coming up short, we have all being there and we know what’s like to be in a bad situation. You are not along unless you want to be.
